Many is the instance in which a Hollywood film is delayed, for any number of reasons. (Take a look at this month’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which was originally slated to open in June of 2012. It was delayed to be converted to 3D, of course.) However, fans of director Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost can now rejoice: Their apocalyptic comedy The World’s End will now be opening two months earlier.
Originally slated for an October 25th release date, The World’s End will now open on August 23. Wright himself confirmed the news on Twitter:
For those in the US who didn’t want to wait another two months for ‘The World’s End’, we give you a new release date! boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?view…

This actually pushes The World’s End a bit closer to This Is the End, another apocalyptic comedy, this one starring the likes of Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jonah Hill as fictionalized versions of themselves.
The World’s End focuses on five friends who reunite to top their epic pub crawl from 20 years earlier and inadvertently become humanity’s only hope for survival. It forms a sort of loose trilogy with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, both of which were directed by Wright and starred Pegg and Frost.
